A healthy obsession...

Recently, my obsession with Chinoiserie has been stronger than ever.

This "Chinese-esque" style has been a recurring theme since the seventeenth century. Typically characterized by the use of fanciful imagery of an imaginary China, asymmetrical in format and with whimsical contrasts of scale.

These images show Chinoiserie as a motif on wallpaper and wall panels however the motif can be applied to number objects- porcelain, textiles, 3-d carved objects and many others.

'It was an equestrian experience'

More often than not I find myself at the Decoration & Design Building  aka (D & D Building) in NYC, a great place to look for new offerings. The problem however is that I never seem to have enough time to see everything new that these trade exclusive companies have to offer- as the allure of NYC and the wonderful friends that I have there more often than not make me want to do everything but work while in the city.

Luckily there are smaller design centers that pack just as much of a punch, as was the case several days ago at the Miromar Design Center in Florida.

The screen printing allows the colors to be very vivid.

While the embroidery on this one is spot on!

Again, these prints are vivd with detail.

My favorite embroidery, it spans several global influences.

These Spanish textiles came in a multitude of colors and had such a fantastic look- It was a very equestrian experience...  Looking forward to using these in an upcoming job!
